Indira Eskieva is a general assignment reporter for WCNC in Charlotte. Throughout her career, she established herself as a journalist who digs up enterprise stories in rural communities, highlighting issues such as the digital divide, domestic violence, poverty and the Opioid epidemic.
Prior to joining WCNC, she was the Eastern North Carolina reporter for WRAL in Raleigh, where she launched the station’s Rocky Mount bureau. She started her career at CN2 News in Rock Hill covering the South Carolina portion of the Charlotte market.
Originally born in Russia, Indira spent several years living in Europe before her family immigrated to the United States in 2003. Growing up, she split her time between North Carolina and Russia.
Indira speaks both English and Russian fluently. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Communication Studies. She also holds an A.A.S in Business Administration. She’s been nominated and received several awards, including Multimedia Journalist of the Year in the Carolinas, General News by a Multimedia Journalist, and Original Web Reporting (Div. II, RTDNAC).
