How to make homemade bread

Making bread from scratch is easier than you think!


Basic Bread Recipe

2 cups warm water

¼ cup sugar

¼ cup oil

2 teaspoons dried yeast

2 teaspoons salt

5 to 5 ½ cups bread flour

How to make:

Set oven to 375’F

Take a large mixing bowl, add the first five ingredients to the bowl and whisk. Add the flour and beat until smooth, approx. 3 minutes.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave to prove for 1 hour.

Remove plastic and knock out the air out of the dough and mold into a ball, place onto a sheet pan and cover lightly with plastic, leave for 1 hour.

Remove the plastic and pop the tray into the oven, bake for 50 to 60 minutes, remove, tap the base of the loaf which should sound hollow, if so it’s baked and ready to cool and eat. If not pop back into the oven for 10 minutes.
