New hotel in heart of Charlotte unlike any other

The Ivey's Hotel at the corner of 5th and Tryon is now open in uptown, Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Ivey's Hotel at the corner of 5th and Tryon is now open in uptown, Charlotte.

At first glance it's hard to believe the space that went through a multimillion dollar renovation was once the Ivey's department store in the 1920s, but if you look closely you'll see hints of its opulent past throughout.

The boutique hotel aims to treat guests to a different level of luxury offering custom furnishings, premium bedding and unique artwork in each of the hotel’s 42 guest rooms.

"There's so much passion and love that has been put into every single [room]," Hotel Manager Morgan Diep said.

Diep says their overall goal is to mix vintage touches with modern elegance to provide warmth and luxury.

That same decor can be seen in the hotel lounge called Sophia's which is set to serve a menu of small plates and specialty cocktails.
