Teal Divas host 5K to raise cancer awareness

The event, which is held to celebrate the lives of those who battled and are battling ovarian cancer, helps raise money and awareness for families in the fight of their lives.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – The Team Divas held their 5K run/walk Saturday at Mooresville High School.

The event, which is held to celebrate the lives of those who battled and are battling ovarian cancer, helps raise money and awareness for families in the fight of their lives.

The WCNC family joined the event by creating Team Nancy Troutman, in honor of anchor Beth Troutman’s mother, who passed away in February due to ovarian cancer.

Sir Purr was also on hand, cheering on runners and walkers as they started and finished the 5K.

The Teal Diva 5K at Mooresville High School was held Saturday to raise awareness for ovarian cancer patients. Sir Purr was on hand to give encouragement to the runners.

The Teal Divas are a local non-profit with the mission of celebrating victories, honoring memories, empowering women, educating the community and funding diagnostic research for ovarian and other gynecologic cancers.
