20 states raising minimum wage in the new year

The national minimum wage is $7.25 and that's the same for Indiana.

INDIANAPOLIS — Twenty states will be raising the minimum wage in the new year.

In New Mexico, the minimum wage will increase from $9/hour to $10.50.

New York will see its minimum wage increase 70 cents to $12.50/hour.

Some businesses are asking for a pause on the increases because of the strain they're already under as a result of the pandemic.

The national minimum wage is $7.25 and that's the same for Indiana.

Here's a look at what the minimum wage will be in the 20 states increasing theirs:

  3. Arkansas $11.00
  4. California $14.00
  5. Colorado $12.32
  6. Florida $8.65
  7. Illinois $11.00
  8. Maine $12.15
  9. Maryland $11.75
  10. Massachusetts $13.50
  11. Minnesota $10.08
  12. Missouri $10.30
  13. Montana $8.75
  14. New Jersey $12.00
  15. New Mexico $10.50
  16. New York $12.50
  17. Ohio $8.80
  18. South Dakota $9.45
  19. Vermont $11.75
  20. Washington $13.69
