On the fence about getting the latest iPhone? Read this first

Insiders predict a change coming to all iPhone models starting next year.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Has this happened to you before? You spend your hard-earned money to get a brand new phone only to find out another, even newer model is set to be released. Well, the iPhone 14 just recently went on sale, but rumors are already flying about the iPhone 15.

MacRumors is reporting that Apple plans to expand a new feature called the Dynamic Island to all iPhone models starting with the iPhone 15. Right now, the feature is currently exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max leaving out the standard iPhone 14 model.

What is the Dynamic Island anyway?

It's the pill-shaped area at the top of the display screen, which can show notifications for things like incoming phone calls and the Face ID prompt, but that's just touching the surface of what it can do.

You can stream WCNC Charlotte on Roku and Amazon Fire TV, just download the free app.

MacRumors writes the Dynamic Island is, "the type of impressive integration of software and hardware that Apple is known for."

Experts say the real potential of the new feature won't be seen until app and widget developers start creating specifically for the Dynamic Island display.

The thought is making the feature standard on all iPhone models will encourage designers to take advantage of the new software.

Insiders predict the iPhone 15 will be announced in September 2023 so if you’re debating upgrading now or holding out for the next model, you might not have to wait too long.
