'Excessive chicken residue' & 'raw meat stored in buckets' | Health code violations you need to know about before you go out to eat

It's not cheap to go out to eat in Charlotte so you want those restaurants to be up to par. Unfortunately, that's not always the case.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It's always a good idea to be aware of the health inspection violations at any restaurant you're thinking about going to, especially if they have critical violations.

Those critical violations are always listed in red and are the ones that can make you sick.

Cava 

1055 Metropolitan Ave. Unit 110

The first restaurant we looked at is Cava in the Metropolitan shopping center.
The restaurant had excessive raw chicken residue on the under-counter refrigeration door and had violations for multiple employees touching soiled surfaces without changing their gloves or washing their hands.
Cava also had dirty utensils.

Cava in the Metropolitan shopping center received a score of 91 which is still an A grade but a low one at that.

Next up? The Dunkin / Baskin Robbins located at 2037 W. Sugar Creek Road.

Violations that happened here include employees putting on gloves without first washing their hands, an employee was handling food without having their hair restrained and there was mold buildup on the ice machine. 

Dunkin / Baskin Robbins located at 2037 W. Sugar Creek Road received an 87 which is a B.

Rai Lay Thai

1520 South Blvd. 

Lastly, Rai Lay Thai on South Blvd had a number of hand-washing issues including employees not washing their hands after touching dirty equipment, not washing their hands after touching their faces and one employee was seen handling lettuce without washing their hands. The restaurant also had raw meat stored in buckets on the ground of a walk-in cooler.

Rai Lay Thai on South Blvd was given a score of 86.5 which is a B.
