Lowe's eliminating, moving jobs in Charlotte area

About 200 jobs will be eliminated at the distribution center in Charlotte due to a transition to a third-party vendor.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mooresville-based Lowe's is making some employment changes in the Charlotte area.

The company is moving around 600 associates from Wilkesboro and about 80 workers from Winston-Salem to Wilkesboro.

"This will bring teams that perform similar functions together, supporting greater collaboration and business performance," said Dan Frahm, Vice President of Communication.

In addition, about 200 jobs will be eliminated at the distribution center in Charlotte due to a transition to a third-party vendor.

"We are making every effort to retain associates in other positions at the company, and we are focused on making their transition as smooth as possible," said Frahm. "This facility will remain open and continue as a delivery hub for large and bulky items such as appliances, supporting our stores in the Charlotte region."

Frahm added the changes did not involve the stores in the region.

After those jobs are moved to Mooresville, the headquarters will employ about 4,400 people.
