1. Four missing Alabama children may be headed to NC

Authorities are asking the public to keep an eye out for four young missing brothers from Alabama that may be headed to North Carolina.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement, the four children were last seen in Arab, Alabama Friday before they disappeared. Local media reported the kids were taken from their grandmother's home without permission after they were placed there as part of a safety plan.

2. Man kills mother, wife & shoots daughter before turning gun on himself

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are working to figure out why a man killed his mother, wife and shot his 12-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself.

The shooting occurred on the 2200 block of Kilborne Drive at the Woodland Park Apartments around 8:40 a.m. Saturday. The child was listed in critical condition as of Monday morning.

3. Several area schools on a delay folowing winter blast

Avery County Schools closed Monday after a winter storm blanketed parts of the South and Mid-Atlantic. New snowfall is expected to sweep across the Northeast and upper Midwest early this week.

In the Charlotte area Monday, expect a cold morning with temperatures in the 20s, then sunny skies later with afternoon temperatures in the low to mid-50s.

4. Santa Barbara firefighters struggle to contain massive blaze with no rain in sight

Firefighters battling a massive blaze near Santa Barbara expect to face ongoing difficulties as temperatures are forecast to stay in the low 80s for the first part of the week.

The fast-moving Thomas fire had scorched 230,000 acres by early Sunday evening, making it one of the 10 largest wildfires in state history and possibly among the largest five, according to the department.
