22-year-old charged with murder of East Meck High student

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police investigators say an arrest has been made in the shooting death of an East Meck High School student last Sunday night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police investigators say an arrest has been made in the shooting death of an East Meck High School student last Sunday night.

CMPD says 22-year-old Carlos Olguin has been charged with the murder of Christian Isaac Allen

Information and evidence gathered by detectives led them in identifying Olguin as a suspect. He was interviewed by officers Thursday and then arrested.

Detectives say they've confirmed that Allen and Olguin were two of several subjects involved in an argument that led to Sunday's shooting at a party at the home on Kelford Lane in South Charlotte. Allen was shot at the party and later died in the hospital.

Olguin's first court appearance is scheduled for Friday.

Friends and witnesses at the gathering said it had quickly grown into a party. A number of people they didn't know began showing up.

Catie Alford attended the party. She says one of them was trouble.

"He was bragging about having a gun," Alford says. "I didn't think it was cool. No one really thought it was cool. I was like, 'why are you bringing out a gun at a party?'"

Chris' older brother Dakota says he has not been able to sleep.

"I wish I would've said bye when he walked out the house," says Dakota Allen. "I didn't think anything of it. Like a normal day."

On Monday, teammates, friends and family members gathered to remember and pay tribute to Allen.

A few dozen classmates and friends gathered and painted the spirit rock in Chris Allen's memory, writing things like "Rest Easy" and his football jersey number "90" in yellow paint.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.
