Charlotte family held at gun point in home Wednesday morning

A Charlotte family is shaken up after being held at gun point in their own home Wednesday morning.

A Charlotte family is shaken up after being held at gun point in their own home Wednesday morning.

Police said armed suspects broke into the home on Deveron Drive early Wednesday morning. Once inside, investigators say the suspects pointed guns at children, ages two and eleven.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department told NBC Charlotte they’re actively looking for the three suspects who targeted the home with children inside.

Off camera, the 30-year-old mother who lives there said everyone was sleeping when the suspects broke in. Police said the armed home invasion started at around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The suspects pointed guns at two women and two children inside the home. The 30-year-old victim says her 11-year-old daughter was threatened with a gun.

“You hate to see that happen anywhere, but especially this close to home,” says neighbor, John Wade.

Wade said he’s lived in the neighborhood for 21 years.

“It’s a great neighborhood,” Wade told NBC Charlotte.  “Nothing like that’s happened around here that I know, so you think everything is peaceful and nice."

Police said the suspects forced the victims around the house against their will, and even threatened a two-year-old girl with a gun. Another two-year-old was inside at the time, but was not threatened.

“You hope they get caught, you wonder what they were looking for,” says Wade.

The police report shows the suspects stole a list of items including video games, jewelry, an I-Phone, and cash. Wade said he’s ready to protect himself if needed.

"Going to lock my doors and keep my gun handy,” Wade told NBC Charlotte.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the crime. Police said they have not made any arrests, but it’s an active and ongoing investigation.
