Charlotte man arrested for the second time in eight months following chase on I-85

A Charlotte resident has been arrested in Rowan County for the second time in eight months following a chase on I-85, the Rowan County Sheriff's Office reports.

A Charlotte resident has been arrested in Rowan County for the second time in eight months following a chase on I-85, the Rowan County Sheriff's Office reports.

According to deputies, 22-year-old Jadarius Marticee McCullough is accused of leading police on a brief chase. Deputies said the suspect eventually left the highway and struck a mailbox, after careening through a yard at Robinson Road. After striking the mailbox, the driver exited the vehicle with a handgun and ran across Long Street toward the Norfolk Southern Railway tracks. Deputies detained the front seat passenger.

After over an hour looking for the suspect, McCullough was eventually arrested by a deputy between the railroad tracks and Lexington Avenue in Spencer.

Deputies report during the pursuit of the vehicle, deputies recovered a small quantity of marijuana that had been thrown from the vehicle. The gun was not recovered.

McCullough was charged with felony fleeing to elude; carrying a concealed weapon; reckless driving; resist, obstruct and delay a public officer; and speeding while attempting to elude. Bond was set at $10,000.
