CMPD: Attempted robbery leads to shootout outside South End McDonald's

Police believe the shooting was an attempted robbery.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was hurt during a shootout outside a McDonald's restaurant in South End late Wednesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. 

According to detectives, two men were meeting with several others in the parking lot of the McDonald's on South Boulevard near the Harris Teeter shopping center at Poindexter Drive. Police said during the meeting, one of the suspects shot one of the two men. At that time, the second victim shot back at the suspect. 

All of the people involved ran from the scene before the first man who was shot came back and called Medic. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening. 

Detectives have not determined the motive for the shooting but believe it was an attempted robbery.
