CMPD investigating another report of drugged drink in Charlotte

A woman tells NBC Charlotte her drink may have gotten drugged while she was out with her friends at uptown Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A woman tells NBC Charlotte her drink may have gotten drugged while she was out with her friends at uptown Charlotte.

This latest incident joins a stack of others in recent months across the Charlotte area.

Over the summer, a different woman shared a similar story to NBC Charlotte Defenders.

"Apparently, my eyes rolled to the back of my head," Leah McQuirk told NBC Charlotte.

McQuirk said her drink was spiked at the Epicentre.

"It was really scary because I blacked out," she added.

"I felt sadness and I also feel anger that this is still happening," McQuirk said.

However, her bravery to speak out, coupled with State Representative Beasley, led to change in our law.

For the first time, date rape is explicitly illegal in North Carolina.

However, survivors and their supporters are still working to end the crime.

"I was definitely roofied, there's no doubt in my mind," McQuirk said.

NBC Charlotte tried contacting the victim in Wednesday's incident but was unable to reach her.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are urging everyone to continue to watch their drink and call for help immediately if you or someone with you may have been drugged.
