Homicide investigation underway in north Charlotte, no charges filed

When officers arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound in a parked vehicle.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was fatally shot in north Charlotte on Saturday afternoon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirm.

The shooting happened in the 5200 block of Henderson Circle. This is the second homicide investigation to take place Saturday.

Police responded to the call for service around 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to a robbery from person/assault with a deadly weapon call. When they arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound in a vehicle. 

The vehicle was parked in a driveway on Henderson Circle, according to CMPD. Medic pronounced him dead at the scene. He's been identified as Julius Frazier, 26. His family has been notified of his death.

The shooter has been identified and interviewed, according to CMPD. The investigation remains ongoing, but detectives are not filing charges at this time. 

The District Attorney’s office will review the decision, and the shooter’s name will not be released unless he is formally charged with a crime.
