Man accused of throwing rabbit into lake

GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are searching for a man accused of throwing a rabbit into a lake at a popular park in Gastonia. 

The incident occurred on October 25, in the 1700 block of Rankin Lake Park in Gastonia. 

A person walking in the park discovered the animal crate floating on the water at 10:35 am.  

Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement investigated and found a dead black and white rabbit in the crate. 

Park surveillance footage showed a white male with dark hair approximately 5-foot 10-inches tall throwing the carrier into the lake that morning.

Police are asking the public for any information on a silver SUV, possibly a Honda, that was seen at the time of the incident.
