CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — On November 30, the Newton Police Department was notified of a possible child pornography investigation initiated by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
A report was filed at ACSO and forwarded to Newton Police Department. An investigation was initiated by the criminal investigations division of the NPD in conjunction with the ACSO and the NC State Bureau of Investigation.
The suspect, 62-year-old Sloane Anthony Freeman of Newton, allegedly possessed child pornography.
On December 5, a search warrant was executed in the 200 block of West 9th Street, Newton. As a result of the residency search, Freeman was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Freeman was placed in the Catawba County Detention Center with a $10,000 secured bond. Freeman's first appearance in Catawba County District Court was on Thursday, December 6.
NPD, ACSO and the NC SBI are members of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The NC ICAC Task Force includes 160 law enforcement agencies across the state.
