Man faces several charges after drug busts at Charlotte gas stations

The man was arrested last month and released on a $191,000 bond on Monday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — 44 year-old Damion Wyke is facing a long list of charges, including trafficking heroin. Police conducted investigations at two gas stations on Clanton Road just down the road from each other.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department says two of the drug investigations happened at the Shell gas station at 605 Clanton Road, and another investigation at the Exxon at 835 Clanton Road.

“It’s too close, too close to home,” Tamara Jordan, who works in the area, said.

Wyke is facing a long list of charges, including half a dozen counts of trafficking heroin. Police say they arrested him in connection to three drug investigations at the two gas stations.

“We have a lot of customers, kids, stuff like that, anything can happen,” Jordan told NBC Charlotte.

On November 6, police conducted a drug investigation at the Shell gas station. The type of drug and the quantity was not disclosed in the police report.

Then on November 9, CMPD says they seized $600 worth of heroin in the parking lot of the Exxon. On November 29, police say they recovered another $600 worth of heroin in the parking lot of the Shell.

The same suspect was charged in each case.

“They ought to be arrested, but hopefully it at least lowered the drug crime in this area,” Jordan said.

Wyke was arrested last month and released on a $191,000 bond on Monday.

“You can find somebody to talk to, to help you, if you need the help, “ says Jordan. “Instead of going towards drugs because that’s not good. It’s just a Debbie Downer on your life.”

CMPD has not said if they are looking for any other suspects in the case.

They’re also not commenting about the status of the investigation at this point.
