Man wanted by both CMPD, Columbia Police captured in West Virginia

David Monts is also wanted by Columbia police, who believe Monts stole a car from a South Carolina Chick-Fil-A.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was looking for a man who removed an electronic ankle monitor on Saturday morning while awaiting multiple criminal charges. He has since been captured. He was also wanted by Columbia Police.

Columbia Police said David Rodgers Monts was captured in Greenbrier County, West Virginia after a high-speed pursuit.

Monts, 26, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm within the city limits, damage to property and interfering with an electronic monitoring device in Mecklenburg County.

Monts was described as being a white male who stands 5′11 and weighs 185 pounds.

Columbia police were also asking for the public's help to locate Monts, who they say stole a car from a South Carolina Chick-Fil-A  Saturday morning. Police say the owner had left the car running.

A 9-month-old was inside when the car was stolen, but the baby is now safe "in the arms of his mother," according to a tweet by Columbia police.
