CONCORD, N.C. — The Concord Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Sunday. Police don't believe it was random. 

Police say the shooting happened near the Ramsgate subdivision on Ramsgate Drive SW. 

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Concord Police. 

At this time, based on the preliminary investigation, police believe it wasn't a random act. Instead, they say the victim and the shooter were acquaintances.

Police say the suspect is not currently in custody. Officers are looking for witnesses. 

The scene has been cleared. While the investigation is still ongoing, police say there are no threats to the general community.
