CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to two separate shootings within one hour in Charlotte on Tuesday night.
First, one person was found with a gunshot wound in east Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police confirm. CMPD arrived to the 6300 block of Lake Drive just after 7:45 p.m. after they received a call for an assault with a deadly weapon.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victim who had been shot.
The victim has not been identified. Medic says that victim has life-threatening injuries, and officials say the victim was taken to Atrium CMC for treatment. No other information was released.
Then at 8:35 p.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Julia Avenue in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon. A victim was found at that location with a gunshot wound. That victim was taken to the hospital by medic.
At this time, there's no reason to believe these two shootings are in any way connected. Police have not released any suspect information regarding either incident.
