CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have one suspect detained and are searching for another after a reported armed robbery attempt led to a vehicle pursuit.
Monday at 6 p.m., CMPD officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6100 block of Cherrycrest Lane. The man reported he was assaulted by two men during an attempted armed robbery.
The victim told police he was walking on the sidewalk when the attempted robbery happened.
At least one of the suspects was armed with a gun, and shots were fired, but the victim himself was not shot, according to police. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to the head that he received during the assault.
CMPD located the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspects refused to stop. Police say a vehicle pursuit began around 6:39 p.m. on North Graham Street.
At 6:53 p.m., police say the passenger got out of the vehicle while it was in the Reid Park Neighborhood off West Boulevard. Police say the passenger was immediately detained, and the pursuit ended around 7:03 p.m. on Tryon Street near 4th street.
At that location, CMPD says the driver ran from the vehicle.
CMPD are still looking for the driver at this time.
The vehicle the suspects were driving was located and reported as stolen. Officials say no crashes happened during the pursuit.
