CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person was rushed to the hospital after being shot near a hotel in southwest Charlotte early Wednesday, police said. At this time, it's believed the shooting happened on the road but the investigation is near the Extended Stay America hotel where just over two weeks ago, a woman was shot to death.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were called to a reported shooting in the 700 block of Yorkmont Road, near the intersection with South Tryon Street and Billy Graham Parkway a little before 5 a.m. Wednesday. When officers got to the scene, they found a person who had been shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.

CMPD said the investigation is in the early stages. No suspect information has been released and detectives haven't determined a motive at this time.
