MONROE, N.C. — Police in Monroe have arrested a man in connection to a fatal hit-and-run accident. 

Monroe Police were called to the 1900 block of East Roosevelt Boulevard near the intersection with Seacrest Avenue. 

The victim was identified as Daphne Alvarez-Torres, 34, of Monroe. She was last seen leaving Tyson Foods around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Detectives believed she was hit by 44-year-old Eric Colon. Colon was charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run. Mr. Colon was taken into custody at the Union County Jail and given a $10,000 bond.
