SC deputies charged in drowning granted bond

Former Horry County deputies Stephen Flood and Joshua Bishop appeared in court on January 4.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — Two former South Carolina Sheriff's Deputies have been charged in the drowning deaths of two women. 

The two women were mental health patients. In September, the deputies were driving the women to medical facilities when investigators say they drove around a road barrier and into flood waters. The women drowned.

The men, former Horry County deputies Stephen Flood and Joshua Bishop appeared in court on January 4. 

Both were charged with involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of the two women. They were both granted bond.

The men are due back in court next month.
