Shot fired into east Charlotte Burger King

Several employees, ranging in age from 16 to 55-years-old, were inside the fast food restaurant at the time.

The search is on for the person who shot up a Burger King in east Charlotte over the weekend.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police (CMPD) said someone fired a gunshot into the fast food restaurant on Albemarle Road around 9:30 a.m.

Several employees, ranging in age from 16 to 55-years-old, were inside.

“I’m usually here at five or six in the morning when they open,” customer Ray Moore told NBC Charlotte.

Moore said the incident scared him, especially since it happened in the morning.

“It could happen right now,” said Moore.

“It can happen anywhere, anytime, it’s that kind of world,” customer Tom Hopkins said.

The former police officer carries a concealed weapon to be prepared for whatever happens wherever he goes.

“There are bad guys everywhere; you have to be ready for things to happen,” Hopkins said. “It’s a sad thing to have to say, but if you walk around with rose-colored glasses, something is going to happen to you.”

Police said the gunfire did $500 in damage to a window. CMPD said investigators are trying to determine a motive.

“I’m very vigilant. I’m looking all over now. I’m looking over my shoulder,” Moore told NBC Charlotte.

Fortunately, no one was hurt. The manager did not want to comment on the case. No arrests were made at the time of the incident.
