Three charged after Cabarrus County shooting

Two of the three suspects charged are being held under no bond.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office charged three people in connection with a shooting that left one dead and another injured in Harrisburg on December 28.

17-year-old Nicholas John Carl Brooks of Harrisburg, pictured above, was charged on January 4 with murder and conspiracy to commit a felony. Brooks is being held under no bond and is scheduled for a first court appearance on January 7.

19-year-old Jaylen Dashawn Tyson of Charlotte, pictured above, was also charged with murder and conspiracy to commit a felony. He is also being held under no bond and is scheduled for a first court appearance on January 7.

Joenel Santiago, 17, of Harrisburg, pictured above, was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. He is being held on a $20,000 bond and had a first court appearance on January 4.

On December 28, deputies were dispatched, and while attempting to locate the source of gunfire, they were advised of a suspicious vehicle at Harrisburg Park in the 200 block of Sims Parkway. 

Upon processing the scene, officials say they located a vehicle as well as two individuals with gunshot wounds. 

The victims, 20-year-old Taryn Presley of Kannapolis and 18-year-old Nicholas Body of Concord, were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Presley Jr. died on December 29 from gunshot wounds. Body was treated and released.
