CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two men were arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a woman and the attack of a man near the light rail in South End.

Sterling Foreman, 23, is charged with impersonating law enforcement, sexual battery and simple assault. CMPD also charged 22-year-old Tyler Macieira with sexual battery for his involvement in the alleged crimes.

CMPD said the attack happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday when the woman was jogging along the light rail near Bland Street. She was approached by the suspects who assaulted her, according to CMPD officer Blake Page.

"She did an amazing job getting a description of the suspects to the officers who began investigating the case," Page said.

About 30 minutes later, the suspects approached a man and Foreman allegedly identified himself as a police officer. The victim said he pulled out what he thought was a firearm and robbed him. Page said the victim found a real CMPD officer nearby who was able to arrest both suspects.
