Two-year-old struck by car in Steele Creek

Boy rushed to the hospital after being struck by car

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A two-year-old boy was injured Tuesday in Steele Creek after being struck by a vehicle, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

The child was driven to a nearby hospital for treatment before police arrived, officials said. The boy is being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle initially left the scene of the crash along Calloway Glen Drive in southwest Charlotte. The driver later reached out to police. Authorities are talking to the driver to understand how the crash happened.

Detectives are also working to determine who was watching the child at the time of the crash. It was not immediately known if anyone else was with the child when the crash happened.

Police said they are not considering this a hit-and-run. The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are possible.
