Lakewood distillery to begin producing hand sanitizer

"We’re doing our best to help out where we can."

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A Lakewood distillery is shifting its focus from making spirits to helping provide needed quantities of hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Western Reserve Distillery reported on its Facebook page that it is producing its first test batch of hand sanitizer on Friday following the World Health Organization's formula 1 guidelines. It will be available by prorder only and will be sold by the gallon for $25 per gallon.

"We’re doing our best to help out where we can," the company wrote on Facebook on Friday.

The first release will be available April 3rd. You can preorder by going to Western Reserve Distillery's Eventbrite page here.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of hand sanitizer will go directly to the Cleveland USBG chapter to support the Cleveland Communities Bartender Emergency Assistance Program.
