What's going around? The flu, RSV, other winter-related illnesses

It's important to note, RSV can be serious, particularly for those with weaker immune systems like babies and the elderly.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you need proof flu season is upon us, here it is.

Three doctor's offices from in and around Charlotte reported to NBC Charlotte that they're now seeing more and more cases of the flu. It's a real sign the sickness is on the rise.

Along with the flu, doctors at Novant Health Arboretum Pediatrics 51, said they're seeing quite a bit of bronchitis and cases of walking pneumonia as well as strep throat, viral illnesses, fevers, and RSV.

Speaking of "RSV",  doctors at Novant Health Pediatrics Concord are also treating cases of the virus that infects the lungs and breathing passages.

It's important to note, RSV can be serious, particularly for those with weaker immune systems like babies and the elderly.

The office in Concord is also seeing a lot of common colds and typical winter-related illnesses like strep throat.

Now to Ballantyne, only two things reported by doctors at Novant Health Ballantyne Family and Sports Medicine. Doctors there have treated upper respiratory infections and a few patients who tested positive for the flu.

That's what's going around.
