CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Officials at Charlotte Douglas International Airport are expecting thousands of travelers over the upcoming holiday break.

Officials said Tuesday passenger numbers are higher this year compared to last year. They’re expecting 30,000 people every day starting Thursday through Sunday. That’s on top of the 100 thousand who travel through the airport daily.

So here’s what you need to know:

-Be prepared for crowds and limited parking.
-Arrive well in advance of your flight. That means two hours ahead of domestic and three hours ahead of international flights.
-Always check your flight status and make sure you know what you can and can’t take with you.

One thing officials said will slow down your travel time is bringing wrapped presents.

“Mail it before hand, bring a gift bag or wrap it when you get there because if that package alarms we’re going to have to unwrap it and look at it and I guarantee you were not going to to do a great jobs as wrapping it back up as you did for your loved ones you’re going to visit,” said Kevin Frederick, Federal Security Director.
