CMPD identifies man killed in northeast Charlotte shooting

Based on evidence from the scene and interview, detectives charged Heather Ricci with murder. She's been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after they said a man was killed in a shooting related to domestic violence in northeast Charlotte Sunday. 

Officers were called to a home on Tara Lane around 6:30 Sunday morning for a report of domestic violence. When officers got to the scene, they found 28-year-old Luis Felipe Ramirez-Flores suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Detectives determined that Ramirez-Flores and the suspect, 29-year-old Heather Nicole Ricci, knew each other. Ricci was interviewed by detectives and is now charged with murder in connection with the shooting. 

Detectives are interviewing witnesses who were inside the apartment when officers first arrived on the scene.
