Police have charged three for their involvement in a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police have charged three for their involvement in a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday morning.

CMPD began conducting a homicide investigation after being dispatched for an assault with a deadly weapon call. The call came in around 2:45 a.m. Thursday.

Patrol officers arrived on scene at the 4400 block of Eddleman Road and found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. CMPD says he was pronounced dead on scene.

Later in the day, offers from Mount Holly Police Department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol pursued a vehicle into Mecklenburg County where the car crashed as it tried to turn onto Sandy Porter Road from S. Tryon Street.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Dequillar Thomas Moore, jumped and ran from the vehicle. Police with K9 units tracked him to a nearby wooded area where he was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives.

When the interview was completed, CMPD says Moore was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
