Franklin Graham spent election night with President Trump

"I don't think it was anxious," Franklin Graham said of spending election night at the White House with President Donald Trump.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Franklin Graham says he spent election night at the White House with President Donald Trump.

Graham held a book signing Wednesday at the Billy Graham Library and took a few minutes to talk to reporters.

NBC Charlotte’s Bill McGinty asked Graham what the president’s mood was like as results came in.

“I don’t think it was anxious,” Graham responded.

He went on to say that now he hopes this divided Congress can get something done.

On the topic of hurricane relief by Samaritan’s Purse, volunteers have been working tirelessly, long hours and long days in places like New Bern, NC. He says they’ll be there for another year, with a lot more to do. They will be in Florida for even longer.

“We’re going to be there for two to three years,” Graham said. “It wasn’t just flooding. It was utter destruction.”

November 7 is Rev. Billy Graham’s birthday. He would have turned 100.

Graham said he thinks about this father every day.

“Asking myself, what would my father say? How would my father have answered that question? Those kinds of things,” Graham said.
