CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Authorities are investigating a crash just outside of uptown Charlotte Wednesday afternoon.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call of a single-vehicle crash on Moretz Avenue near Statesville Avenue.

A witness told NBC Charlotte's crew at the scene that she heard four gunshots and the driver of the car left the scene before police arrived. CMPD officers on scene said they didn't find any shell casings as of Wednesday evening.

Officials did not say what led to the crash.
