Missing Charlotte man identified as pedestrian killed in accident

Michael Pruitt was last seen around 7 p.m. on October 21 near the 7000 block of Somerset Springs Dr.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An alert was sent out by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police on Wednesday afternoon about a man who waa missing for days.

Michael Pruitt was last seen around 7 p.m. on October 21 near the 7000 block of Somerset Springs Dr. 

The 48-year-old suffers from cognitive issues, and his family is concerned for his wellbeing, CMPD said.

Pruitt is a white man about 5'10" who weighs 200 lbs. His hair is brown, and his eyes are blue. 

If you know anything about Pruitt's location, call 911.

UPDATE: On October 31, Pruitt was identified as the pedestrian who was killed in an accident on Brookshire Freeway between Graham Street and I-77 that occurred on October 22. 

CMPD said Pruitt was walking along a poorly lit area with his back to oncoming traffic. The driver of a Kia slammed on her brakes but was unable to avoid hitting Pruitt who was walking in her lane of travel, police said. A Nissan then hit the Kia. 

Both drivers remained on scene during the investigation.
