CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. -- South Carolina officials are investigating after a 2-year-old died in Chester County Wednesday morning.
According to Chester Police, emergency personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive child on White Oak Street around 8:20 a.m. The child was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Juiuse Foote told NBC Charlotte that his pregnant granddaughter and her boyfriend live in the home. He says she has a 5-year-old daughter and the boyfriend had a 2-year-old daughter who both lived in the home.
The child was identified Thursday by the Chester County coroner as Khloe Simone Adams.
The family said Adams had just gone trick-or-treating the night before but wasn’t feeling great. Now, they say they’re at a loss for what happened.
“I don’t know, only God knows and she’s with God. Aww, feels like my heart just blew, blew, blew for the young child, just two years old,” said Foote.
South Carolina Law Enforcement detectives are assisting local authorities with the investigation. The Chester County Solicitor was also at the scene Wednesday.
The family said her body was taken to Columbia, S.C. where an autopsy is being performed. Officials have not announced whether charges will be filed.
