GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — New video released Friday night showed a man police said may be connected to a sexual assault in Gastonia.
In the footage from January 6, you see the guy lurking around Quail Woods Apartments, reportedly trying to open someone's sliding back door.
Earlier that week, just a few blocks away at Georgetowne Woods Apartments, a man broke into a woman's home, also through a sliding glass door, and attacked her.
"She said that someone broke into her house and molested her."
Police believed the person in the Quail Woods video could be connected to the Georgetowne Woods assault.
"We want to get him into custody so whatever we can do to make that happen we want to do."
Gastonia Police spokeswoman Donna Lasher said while they search for this suspect, people need to be extra vigilant about locking their doors.
"In the world that we live in these days, you do have to have your home secured at all times."
