1 dead, 3 others hurt after shooting outside Hickory bar

Hickory Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place outside a Hickory bar.

HICKORY, N.C. -- Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place outside a Hickory bar Sunday morning.

Police responded to a call of a shooting a little before 2 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of First Avenue Northwest. Upon arrival, officers found numerous spent shell casings near The Vault Bar and Lounge.

Within minutes after officers arrived at the scene, a man with a gunshot wound arrived at Frye Regional Medical Center in Catawba County. The man, identified as 20-year-old Antonio Watts, was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Hickory Police said.

Police are investigating multiple persons of interest including three people who were hurt during the incident: 25-year-old Garan Colby Wilburn of Hickory, 23-year-old Keeuntae Kaleel Kee of Gastonia and 28-year-old Joe Clifford Tipps of Morganton.

Following the deadly shooting, 2018 permit holders for The Vault Bar and Lounge voluntarily surrendered ABC permits to the North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control Commission on Monday.
