Missing elderly man found safe in Florida

A 76-year-old man was found unharmed in Florida after he disappeared from Charlotte Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An elderly man who went missing from his home on Friday was found safe in Florida and taken to a hospital for evaluation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

CMPD activated a Silver Alert for 76-year-old Charles "Chick" Anderson. He was last seen at his family's home along Ryder Avenue. Anderson was driving a grey 2017 Dodge Caravan with Florida license plates. 

The man was found unharmed in Florida and taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluation, CMPD said Monday.

Police said the man has been diagnosed with dementia.
