One person killed in east Charlotte house fire, officials say

The fire broke out at a home in the Windsor Park neighborhood early Friday morning, Charlotte Fire said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a house fire in east Charlotte early Friday morning, the Charlotte Fire Department confirmed.

According to a tweet from Charlotte Fire, the fire happened at a home in the 2200 block of Birchcrest Drive in Charlotte's Windsor Park neighborhood. A team of nearly two dozen firefighters was able to get the fire under control in about 25 minutes, officials said. 

Authorities have not identified the victim or determined the cause of the fire.
