GASTONIA, N.C. – NBC Charlotte has partnered with Gastonia Nissan for the Road to a Better Community initiative.

On Saturday, to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gastonia Nissan hosted a mobile mammogram event, allowing women from all over Gaston County to have breast cancer screenings.

“It was a great event,” said Jeff Viner, owner of Gastonia Nissan. “Really happy with the turnout and I hope that we are able to help save some lives today.”
Studies show that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

“We absolutely want every woman to get their mammogram every year beginning at the age of 40,” said Dr. Heidi Hartman. “We are Caromont Health are so thrilled to partner with Gastonia Nissan to bring screening opportunities to the women of Gaston County.”
