CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Even though the government shutdown is over, there are still lasting impacts for the government employees who went five weeks without being paid.
White House Officials say those 800,000 federal employees who weren't being paid during the shutdown -- 6,000 in North Carolina -- will receive back-pay some time this week.
On the Johnson C. Smith University campus Sunday night, Congresswoman Alma Adams gave her state of the district address. The shutdown was a major focus of the speech, with Representative Adams expressing concerns about local impacts, including airline delays as TSA agents weren't been paid.
The congresswoman says she's relieved that it's over -- for now.
