A string of B grades in this week's Restaurant Report Card

Consumer Reporter Bill McGinty has the story and shocking video you may have to see to believe.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On this week’s Restaurant Report Card, some video and violations are sure to turn your stomach.

At Curry n Cake on East Arbors drive, the health inspector actually saw an employee using the trash can as a table to hold flat pans of fried food. Also, kitchen workers were not wearing their beard and hair nets that catch wayward stragglers that could make their way down onto your lunch. A lot of their food, some of which includes chicken, goat curry, onion sauce and noodles wasn’t dated. Their grade here? An 88.5, a “B”.

Also listed this week, the restaurant at the city center Courtyard Marriott. They had strawberries with a gray growth on them, and some of their ricotta cheese had green growth on the container. The ricotta was tossed out. Their ice machine had pink and black build up. There were even live cockroaches behind the ice machine as well as fruit flies throughout the facility. Their grade here? An 85.5, a “B”.

Last up this week, and the lowest of the week, the Citgo Food Mart at 6307 The Plaza. They had live roaches running around, and their macaroni and cheese as well as chicken wings were left to thaw on the counter. They were later moved to a cooler. Their utensils were being stored in a dirty container. Their grade here at this Citgo Food Mart? An 80.5, the lowest we’ve seen in a while and barely a “B” grade.
