SALISBURY, N.C. – Emergency crews in Salisbury are investigating after five people were forced from their home due to a fire early Tuesday.
According to Salisbury Fire, emergency crews from several agencies responded to a fire in the 1600 block of Statesville Boulevard around 4 a.m. Officials at the scene told NBC Charlotte that everyone inside the home, two adults and three children, was able to escape without injury and the Red Cross is assisting the victims.
Investigators are still on the scene of the fire searching for any clues as to what started the fire. Fire officials said the blaze started in the basement of the home. Statesville Boulevard is currently shut down in both directions while crews work to clear the scene and investigate the fire.
