Sexual assault reported near Myers Park HS

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirm they received a report of a sexual assault Tuesday near the campus of Myers Park High School.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It’s not the type of thing parents in the Myers Park area are used to hearing about.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirm they received a report of a sexual assault Tuesday near the campus of Myers Park High School.

Parents received a message from Myers Park High School Principal Mark Bosco Wednesday regarding safety on the school’s 61-acre campus.

He said, in part, “We’ve had numerous incidents in the woods which requires us to take a stronger stand on this safety issue. From this point further, any unsupervised students found or seen in the woods during the instructional day will receive a suspension from school."

Bosco went on to say student safety is his number one priority, and asked parents to speak with their kids about the importance of being safe.

But the message didn't mention anything about a sexual assault.

CMPD says it’s still investigating the allegations.
