CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a string of brazen attacks on people out enjoying greenways and walkways in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is looking for a man who robbed two women at gunpoint on the greenway at McAlpine Creek Park Thursday afternoon.

Charlotte Police have arrested two men in a separate but similar case, the suspects accused of sexually assaulting a jogger in South End and attacking a man walking by in that same area.

“Around 7 p.m., a member of our community was jogging along this path, approached by two suspects will ultimately sexually assaulted her," CMPD officer Blake Page said in a video posted to Facebook. "She did an amazing job getting a description of the suspects to the officers who began investigating the case.”

30 minutes later, police say those same two suspects approached a man and identified himself as a police officer, then pulled out a gun.

Thankfully, a real police officer was close by and arrested them.

Then on Thursday, two women walking on the greenway at McAlpine Creek Park were robbed at gunpoint. Police are still searching for that suspect.

These attacks are scary, but not enough to deter people from enjoying the day. Police are asking people to travel in groups and remain vigilant.
