CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man was hospitalized after being shot in the leg in northeast Charlotte Saturday night.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call of a shooting taking place at a parking lot near Broken Branch Road.

The man who was shot in the leg was transported to CMC for injuries that were believed to be not life-threatening, Medic said. NBC Charlotte's crew on the scene reports that the shooting started from an altercation.

CMPD said three other subjects were involved in the incident. Two of the subjects fled the scene of the shooting on foot and the third appeared to have driven away in a green SUV, according to CMPD.

Officers later located the SUV and the three subjects were identified.

The three subjects are being interviewed or detained as of Saturday night, according to CMPD. Officers are working to obtain a search warrant on a residence that two of the subjects fled inside of, CMPD said.
