Woman freed after leg stuck in storm drain, officials say

Her leg was stuck toward her knee area, and officials say they used jaws of life. She was put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Officials worked to get a woman free from a storm drain Monday afternoon in Iredell County. She was freed just after 4 p.m.

Her leg was stuck toward her knee area, and officials say they used jaws of life. She was put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.

Officials say she's expected to be okay, though the full extent of her injuries has not been released.

Officials believe she had been walking through the grassy area, and either didn't see the drain or misstepped.

Dozens of emergency responders were at the scene helping to free and console her.
